“How did you find me?”

“I don’t know. I just did.”

“Do you believe in fate?”

“Nah. I believe in choices. I met you, and I decided to take a chance with you. And here we are. Had I chosen differently, we would’ve gone our separate ways.”

“So is it a good, or a bad thing—that we’ve met?”

“Honey, good or bad is a perception. We tend to see things as good because we, humans, always try to find reasons for everything. We said ‘everything happens for a reason’ and because we like good things more than we like bad things, we always come up with justifications and explanations about why things happens the way they happened.”

“And why do you think we do that?”

“To protect ourselves, of course. Because the idea of everything happens for no reason is scary. If you see things separately and assume that they are not connected to each other, you might find that there is neither purpose nor justice in this life—there is no ‘greater good’ and nothing worth living for. Some might go crazy because of that.”

“So, are you saying that this is all just a coincidence?”

“Not really. I just said that the concept that everything in this world—or even in this universe—is in order, is easier to accept than the opposite.”

“You’re a romantic nerd, you know that?”

“But you like this romantic nerd, don’t you?”

“You wish.” *giggles*

“I wish you could see yourself the way I see you.”

“And I wish you could see me the way I see myself. You’re being subjective, because you like me.”

“And you’re being subjective, because you don’t like you.”

“I like being subjective.”

“Me, too.”

“And I’m glad that I met you.”

“Me, too.”
